DEATHBED

Louis hears that Grandpa Morris had a heart attack, He’s being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.   

Grandma Pearl calls from the emergency room.. The prognosis isn’t good. Everyone needs to come to the hospital to say their final goodbyes.  

Later that night, Louis and his family, including his extended family, sit around Grandpa Morris. Louis mother cries periodically. There’s a tension in the air about losing him.  

Tiana, a nurse, walks into the room with Doctor Patel.

She introduces him to the family while he reviews the medical file. 

Morris mumbles... “Doctor, Tiana’s telling everyone that my tree trunk is a tiny twig.” 

Doctor Patel and the entire family stare at Tiana. Tiana looks at the floor... “not EVERYONE.”

Doctor Patel turns to Morris... “I’m very sorry, sir. I’ll make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Grandma Pearl chimes in... “Morris, it is tiny. It’s only about half the size of Franklin, your boss.”

Grandpa Morris lifts himself off his pillow with the last morsels of strength left in his body... stares at Pearl... and dies.
