FORGIVENESS
It’s Pastor Luke’s turn to sit in the confessional at his Church and absolve the sins of his congregants and others in the community at large.
He sits in the confessional reading Scripture when the door of the booth opens... then closes. There’s a smell of alcohol. A young man clears his throat... “this is my first time here. I’m only in high school. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”
Pastor Luke says, “you’ve done the right thing by coming here, my son. The protocol’s simple. You say, ‘bless me father, for I have sinned’ and then you confess your sins.”
The young man says, “I don’t mind saying that... but I’m scared to death to tell anyone what I did. I’m probably in a lot of trouble.”
Pastor Luke says, “put your trust in the Lord, my son. There’s no sin too large for the Lord. Scripture says the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The young man says, “fine... here goes. So, last night, I slept with Pastor Luke’s daughter in the back seat of my car.”
