JUNGLE BOY

Jabari lives in a remote jungle and more than anything in the world, he wants a pet wild animal.  

One day, he spots a cheetah sleeping in the shade of a leafy tree. He tiptoes up to it… but it suddenly wakes up and runs away.

Jabari goes home. His mother asks, “why are you so sad?” Jabari says, “I tried to catch a cheetah today but it ran away.” His mother’s like, “a Cheetah? Cheetahs are the fastest animals in the jungle. Why don’t you try catching something slower?”

The next day, Jabari sees a chimpanzee on the ground eating a mango. He sneaks up behind it… but it suddenly looks at him and runs away. 

Jabari goes home. His mother takes one look at him and says, “uh oh… what’d you try to catch today?” Jabari says, “a chimpanzee.” 

His mother sits down next to him, “what about a frog? Frogs make great pets… they don’t run away… they don’t hurt anyone… and you can catch it.”  

Jabari says, “but I don’t want a frog. I want more than a frog.” 

His mother says, “but you can’t catch more than a frog.” 

Jabari’s frustrated. His mother doesn’t understand. If he doesn’t try to catch more than a frog… all he’s ever gonna have is a frog.
