LEMON MERINGUE PIE

Mia’s fantasy is to swim inside a lemon meringue pie. So, she orders a pool size pie plate and makes a pool size lemon meringue pie.

She stands barefoot on the rim... brittle meringue crackles under her feat... it’s ticklish.

​

She dives in. She feels her fingers crack through the crispy covering.. She feels her body fall into the thick mass of white meringue. It’s so sticky. It sticks to her hair and her body. She loses visibility through her goggles. But the meringue that gets into her mouth... it’s SOOO sweet.

​

She quickly drops through the meringue into the smooth lemon filling.  Its texture’s like a thick custard. The lemon juice stings the cuts on her body.

She submerges into the pie and swims underwater through the lemon filling until she can’t hold her breath any longer.

​

She stands up. She feels soggy pie crust seep between her toes while her head pushes the meringue off the filling, creating an air bubble so she can breathe.

​

She puts some meringue into her mouth and jumps back under, mixing the meringue with some tangy lemon filling and chewing it as she swims. 

​

It’s the perfect afternoon... but Mia’s fantasy will always be incomplete without a swimming partner.
